Have Paranormal Reality Shows Ruined Ghost Hunting?

Have Paranormal Reality Shows Ruined Ghost Hunting?

People, there’s an epidemic going around, and it’s called ‘oversaturation’. Something that we all hold near and dear to our hearts is slowly being infested…and killed. If we don’t act now, it will die. The only way to stop this madness is to…cancel all the paranormal reality shows. We have to do it in order to save ghost hunting! Yes, I’m talking about reality ghost hunting shows like Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures and all the other ones in between. Today I wanted to talk about the recent news that’s been going around with these types of shows. So, if you’ve flipped through the TV channels recently, you’ve probably noticed that there is an over abundance of reality ghost hunting shows. Long gone are the days of there just being one or two. Ghost hunting has now become a cutthroat competition, as they no longer focus on actually hunting ghosts, but instead it’s become a competition to see who can produce the most “shocking” episode(s) ever. Members of different ghost hunting shows trash talk members of another, criticizing their methods and such. But, why has ghost hunting blown up so much? The answer is simple, fame. Ghost hunters are no longer the dorky/weirdos that use to be made fun of in high school. Now, they’re icons, and some are even being revered as sex symbols. Many are now saying that ghost hunting is officially “dead”, in the sense that you can no longer believe what a paranormal group says because they might be faking in order to get famous. One of the main things being criticized is the fact that these “professional” ghost hunters always seem to find evidence of ghostly activity no matter where they investigate. This has lead to the majority of people to believe that everything in all these shows is made up purely for entertainment.

You know, I have to agree that there are WAY to many ghost hunting shows now. It seems like every channel wants their own ghost hunting show. But, I have to say that I don’t believe that every paranormal research group is out for fame. I believe that there are still some honest ghost hunters out there who actually want to try and capture real evidence of spirits and help people. But I believe that right now, a majority (not all) of these shows are just in it for the money. It’s a fad, and like all fads, it’ll eventually die down. So, what are your thoughts about all these ghost hunting shows? Do you want them all to go away, or do you enjoy watching them and want’em to stick around? Do you think the evidence they present in these shows is fake or real, or is it 50/50 (some of it fake and some of it real)?
