Oregon - The Mysterious Rocks of Nehalem Bay. “50 States of Freaky!” Vol. 37

Today we’re heading to Oregon! And this post is going to have a very anti-climactic ending! Why? Well, you’ll see by the end. So let’s head on over to Nehalem Bay where a 16th century gold-laden was shipwrecked. There, the crew proceeded to bury their gold treasure along with their African slaves in hopes of keeping the local tribes away. (…really?) Fast forward to the present, where mysterious piles of rocks appear near the rumored burial sight. Sometimes they’re single piles, while other times they’re elaborate stacks. To this day, nobody knows who, or what, is responsible for these stacks of rocks. And just like that, everyone let out a disappointed groan. That’s right, Oregon’s most perplexing mystery is rock piles that appear over night. I guess it is kind of odd that stacks of rocks appear over night, but I’m sure that they’re just being built by people. They could wipe their tracks from the sand easily and boom, you have a pile of rocks built by ghosts. But, question of the day. Which is more bizarre, the New Jersey tree shirts or the Oregon rock stacks?
