South Dakota - Deadwood. “50 States of Freaky!” Vol. 41

Be sure you’re all caught up with this series! “50 States of Freaky”

————-

Our next stop is Deadwood, South Dakota. For all you HBO fans, the name of the town may sound familiar as it was the name of the popular, but short-lived, western-drama “Deadwood”. Well, the town of Deadwood is more than just the setting for a TV show, it’s also the home to a supposed haunted hotel. Seth Bullock, the famous sheriff of Deadwood, built the towns first hotel; a three-story building with 63 rooms. Named the “Bullock Hotel”, it still operates to this day, but some say that Seth’s ghost still haunts the place, making sure things are running smoothly. Guests have claimed they’ve heard their name being called out by a mysterious male voice. The feeling of a paranormal presence has been reported in the second and third floor hallways as well as several of the rooms, in Bully’s restaurant and in Seth’s cellar. Along with guests reporting to see his ghost, many employees have said that strange things happen when they goof off while on the job. Plates and glasses have been reported to start shaking, lights turn on and off by themselves and items seem to move around on their own. Old hotels like this usually have reports of paranormal activity. Is it possible that Seth’s ghost is still keeping things in check? Sure. I can’t say for sure, since I’ve never actually been there and experienced anything, but I think the possibility is definitely there. What do you think? Could this hotel be haunted by it’s original owner or are people just blaming odd happenings on a ghost that really isn’t there?
