Rhode Island - The Pawtucket Werewolf. “50 States of Freaky!” Vol. 39

Be sure your all caught up with this series! “50 States of Freaky”

———-

A werewolf sighting in PAWtucket? That’s so efFANG hilarious! FURiously, these puns just keep making themselves! I’m HOWLing with laughter here! And…I’ve run out of puns. But, now that the bad jokes have passed (for now…), let’s get started. Today, we’re headed to Pawtucket, Rhode Island were back on December 16th, 2008 four school kids say they encountered a werewolf in the woods. Their school had finished up its mid-term testings, so they decided to explore the woods near one of the student’s house. They came to an old waterway and followed it deeper into the woods. Then at around 1:15 p.m., the students say they saw a black figure appear before them. It was estimated to be about 6 feet tall, with an elongated face like that of a wolf but appeared humanoid and ran like a human. It moved very fast and it shortly took off shortly after they saw it. The students left the woods and have since only told a handful of people of their encounter with what they believe was a real werewolf.

OK, a few things. 1) I found where this story originated from. It was on About.com’s paranormal section and it was written by someone named Stephen Wagner. On his profile it says that he’s been into the paranormal for over 30 years. Yet the story he was still in school in 2008. Even if he were in college, could be contradictory. Now I don’t know if he is simply just tell this story for someone else, or if he was really one of the kids who witnessed this werewolf. If he was one of the kids, then this was probably just a made up story. And 2) my other grip is, why was the werewolf seen in the daytime? Traditionally, werewolves only come out at night, and on full moons. But, they’ve been known to transform on other nights. What, are werewolves now suddenly following Skyrim’s werewolf rules? (I know this happened before Skyrim came out, I was…it was a failed joke, OK!) So overall, I’m positive this is just some made up story. But what do you think? Did these kids really encounter a werewolf in the woods or is this just another made up story? And, if you befriended a werewolf, what kind of crazy adventures would you go on with your new hairy, scary friend? (That rhymed!)
